First sketchbook page done.
After doing that bit of research this came to me:
If a weapon is something that gains advantage over an enemy.....
then what exactly is an enemy?
ENEMY: |ˈenəmē|
noun ( pl. -mies)
a person who is actively opposed or hostile to someone or something.
• ( the enemy) [treated as sing. or pl. ] a hostile nation or its armed forces or citizens, esp. in time of war : the enemy shot down four helicopters | [as adj. ] enemy aircraft.
• a thing that harms or weakens something else : routine is the enemy of art.
•The opposite of a friend.
Could an enemy be a virus or disease and could a weapon be a medicine? could an enemy be the rain and a weapon an umbrella? how far can the concept of an enemy be pushed before it bares no resemblance to the main theme of weapon.
If I take the idea that 'A thing that harms or weakens something else' is an enemy then this opens up a lot of doors in-terms of the direction that this project could be taken. For example the sun is our enemy as it burns our skin and causes skin cancer this is 'harm' and 'weakens' us, however we need the sun to generate vitamin D sort of a catch-22. But our weapon against the sun to save us from skin cancer and sun burn is suncream, is suncream really a weapon? I dont know where I am going with this... will come back to it later
